AN ART THERAPY APROACH TO UNDERSTAND YOURSELF
BUT WHAT IS ART THERAPY?
Art therapy is a space where creativity and self-exploration come together. It’s not about making “good” art—it’s about letting your hands express what words often cannot.
When we create, we tap into a different kind of knowing—an embodied intelligence. The way we draw, the shapes we choose, the elements we emphasize—all of it carries traces of our inner world, allowing hidden feelings and ideas to surface.
"Let your hands Lead the Way to create what words can’t say"
Our creations become mirrors, reflecting fragments of ourselves. They offer metaphors for what we struggle to articulate, helping us make sense of our experiences. In a safe and supportive space, with the guidance of a therapist, we can be curious about what emerges. Together, we explore the meanings within our creations, uncovering new perspectives on ourselves—and finding new ways to understand what once felt unspeakable. Rooted in psychotherapy, art therapy began to take form as a profession in the 1940s and 50s, though the healing power of images and symbols has existed throughout human history. Much like Freud’s dream analysis, art therapy is grounded in the belief that images can reveal unconscious thoughts and emotions.
